Kayak Launch Locations Kayak Launch Locations
Do you know of a location that permits kayak launching to visit offshore dive sites? Please contact us with this information so we can add it to the list. Our kayak launch points are indicated with yellow spots on our Dive Site Map. Sites accessible from these launce points are also indicated on the map.

Broward County:

Deerfield Beach - Kayaks can be launched south of SE 10th Street and north of N 4th Court. Arrive early before the lifeguards get there and you can park at the lot by the pier and launch. When returning, land north of NE 4th court.

Pompano Beach - Kayaks can be launched at NE 16 Street and must stay 100 yards off the public beach. Arrive early and you can park next to the beach for easy carrying of your kayak and gear. Bring plenty of quarters for the meters. Pompano Dropoff is an easy paddle (45 min.) about 1.5 miles south of this launch point. Pompano Beach - Kayaks can be launched at SE 8th Street and must stay 100 yards off the public beach. Arrive early and you can park next to the beach for easy carrying of your kayak and gear. Bring plenty of quarters for the meters. Pompano Dropoff and the reefs off of Commercial pier and Lauderdale By The Sea are an easy paddle from this launch point.

Ft. Lauderdale Beach - Ft. Lauderdale Beach offer three locations for kayak launching.
  • The first is at the south end of the beach at Fort Lauderdale South Beach Park. The kayak launch spot is located at the northern end of the park across from the Oasis Restaurant where the hobi cats launch. Sites accessible from this launch point are Spotfin reef and the Caves Moorings.
  • The second is north of Sunrise Blvd. near tower #14. Ask a lifeguard to be sure you are in the correct area. When launching, be sure to go outside of the marked swimming area before turning north or south. for more information call Ft. Lauderdale Parks and Recreation at 954-828-5000. sites accessible from this point are Hog Heaven, The Caves Moorings and the Oakland Ridge Moorings.
  • The third is at Vista Park, just south of Oakland Parl Blvd. Heading east on Oakland Park turn right(south) on A1A, go to the traffic light at 30th St., turn left, go to the end, turn right and go to Vista Park. It will be on your left. Bring quarters. Some of the sites accessible from this point are Rebel wreck, Jim Atria wreck, Jay Scutti Tug, Mercedes wreck and the Oakland Ridge Moorings.

John U. Lloyd State Park - 6503 N. Ocean Drive, Dania, Florida 33004 Take Dania Beach Blvd. east to the ocean, follow the signs to the park. Launch anywhere along the state park beach. Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days a year. Please call the Park for information at 954-923-2833.

Hollywood Beach - There is a designated put-in spot where you can launch non-motorized watercraft off Hollywood Beach, about a mile south of the Dania Pier. You have to go out 100 yards or so before heading north or south to comply with boating regulations. Go directly out, do not play in the surf close to shore. Directions: Take I-95 to Sheridan St. east. Go over the drawbridge over the intracoastal and turn left onto A1A. Go north past North Beach Park, then turn right after a few blocks, being careful since the streets are all one way, alternating east and westbound. Turn left at the end of the street (also one way). Watch for bikes and skaters. The put-in is at Meade St, one block north of Custer St. You can drive onto the beach to unload and load, then park in metered parking.
