Built in 1937, the Hollyhock was a 175-foot U.S. Coast Guard buoy tender. In February of 1990, the ship was renamed Captain Dan Garnsey and sunk to make an artifical reef. She lies upright in 110 feet pointing south. The deck is at the 90 foot mark and the wheelhouse is 70 feet deep.
The ship is in very good shape with large access holes offering easy opportunity for penetration by experienced divers.
It is located 1 1/2 miles southeast of the Pompano Pier.
